Black sheep barber & shave parlor

Came in for a haircut here because so many people recommended this place. First off, as a queer (LGBT) person, it is nerve-wracking and intimidating to come into barber shops. Everyone here was very welcoming! I also loved how diverse their staff was! I really think that adds to the greatness of their team, and we (myself and two hair stylists/barbers) had a conversation about that. My cut looks good and clean! I'll definitely be back!

Anthony was absolutely amazing. I brought my oldest here because after going to a regular salon time and time again, the cut was just never right, they felt the stylists would never fully respect what they wanted. I finally suggested maybe taking them to a barber shop where more masculine cuts are what they do...my child went in there, hiding behind their hair, hunched over and quiet and left there with a confidence I have quite literally never seen. The smile on my child's face said it all. He listened to everything they said, and took the time to go slow removing the hair slowly to make sure they got what they wanted. My kid has THICK wavy hair and he seemed knowledgeable and well versed in handling their hair type, even suggesting that there was more styles they can try later on till they find what is right for them. My kid just came downstairs and said to me "mom, its really amazing what a good haircut can do for how you feel and see yourself." We will be customers for LIFE.

Shout out to @jase.the.ace__ for the zero fade and lineup. The whole crew at @blacksheepbarbersm 💈 was super chill. The place has a laid back vibe - ESPN on the TV and hiphop on the radio. It was really cool that a couple guys opened up to me about health struggles they've had similar to my epilepsy. If you are looking for a new Barber in the San Marcos area, give the owner, Alex, a call and he or one of his guys will hook you up with a fresh look.

I've been going to the same barber for the last 6 years (Matt Hill). He's moved around a few of times and just recently came back to the shop. I really like the ambiance at this location and the crew that cuts there. Lots of new faces for sure, but everyone there has a chill vibe. I know they opened up a second location out in Escondido recently, but I don't have any reason to visit up. If you looking for a cut that will never be the same twice, go to Matt Hill. He asks for a little bit of guidance when I first sit down, but I'm never one to tell him how to make me look good. He's perfected this to an art form, he could be at any place out there and charge much higher prices for the quality of work he does. If you are looking for a cut, ask for Matt.

These boys do great work! All of them are friendly and carry on good conversation. If your looking for an in and out hair cut go to great clips or some other chain where they don’t care. These guys take their time and get you a proper cut and trim. Oh and the beer is cold. Make an appointment and relax, enjoy the cut and camaraderie of an old school barber shop!
